WWETB staff join Dungarvan Panto for a fabulous production of Sleeping Beauty

December 7, 2015

The Spirit of Christmas is alive and well in the Dungarvan Office of Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board.  The very talented Deirdre Collender becomes the Fairy Godmother and is accompanied by stage ‘newbie’ Gina McGrath as one of the trusty villagers.

The Cast, Chorus and stage crew along with director Aileen Hogan of Encore Stage Academy have fine-tuned a wonderful show of song, dance and fun for the people of Dungarvan and surrounding areas.  There has been a two week production run with 4 shows on both weeks, and it’s been full houses every night with amazing audiences and fantastic reviews.

The lovely tale of Sleeping Beauty is transformed into an amazing Panto with some very well-known songs, a few political innuendos’, fabulous acting and a lot of amazing ad-libbing along the way. The audience interaction has been amazing.  It is a show that was well worth the effort of going out on a miserable winter evening when to leave the cosy seat in front of the home fire was a big ask.   The main parts of the King, Lola, Aurora & her Prince, The Fairy Godmother, Evil Maleficent, Hash & Tag and the wonderful Tickles put so much energy into their parts that you almost forget that they are mere mortals!  The highly enthusiastic, vibrant chorus and dance crews provided an amazing background for the story as it unfolded.  The feedback has been wonderful with children and adults enjoying this highly colourful and amazing show in equal measures.  It allowed people to have a good old belly laugh and forget the troubles of daily living for a couple of hours.  Well done all, Christmas is well and truly alive in Dungarvan!

WWETB would like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful and wonderful New Year.
