New Chief Executive at WWETB

February 19, 2016

The new Chief Executive Officer at Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board (WWETB) has been confirmed as Mr Kevin  Lewis.  The Board, at its recent meeting, confirmed the appointment of Kevin to this important and challenging role. Kevin joins WWETB from Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board where he was the Finance Officer and where he  also held the post of Education Officer.

Ms Eilís Leddy Chief Executive/ Acting  with WWETB for almost 2 years  stated that   “it was a privilege to take on the CE role and I am proud to have led such a large organisation during a time of great change and development. These developments include the amalgamation of the former City of Waterford VEC, County Waterford VEC, and County Wexford VEC into WWETB, as well as the integration of the former FÁS functions into WWETB. WWETB strives to be the leader in Education and Training in the South East.

Eilís chose  not to  apply for the permanent position of Chief Executive, but  she is looking forward to supporting Kevin in his new role and  to reverting to her  post as Education Officer.

Cllr Jim Moore, Chairperson of WWETB also commented “On behalf of the Board I am delighted to welcome Kevin. He joins us with a wealth of experience at a critical time as we continue to develop as a leader in the provision of a quality education and training provider to people in our region. I look forward to working with Kevin as we advance the organisation. The Board acknowledges the considerable achievements under the stewardship of Eilís during her period in the role”

WWETB are delighted to welcome Kevin to the role which he will take up before the end of February.
