Yesterday 7 WWETB learners from Waterford City received certificates from Minister Leo Varadkar in The Open Gate Brewery, St. James Gate Dublin. The learners had completed a Diageo Learning For Life Programme.
This programme was developed by Diaego as part of its overall commitment to sustainable community-based initiatives in Ireland. The programme, run in partnership with the Department of Social Protection brings young people on the Live Register through an intensive seven-week training programme in the hospitality sector.
The participants are then given an opportunity to take up a work placement with a Diageo industry partner in a landmark pub, hotel or restaurant. Fran Kennedy, Adult Education Officer and Angi Meegan accompanied the learners on the day.
