“Illusion” Fashion Show 2016
City of Waterford V.T.O.S.
The 2nd year Fashion Design and Accessories students of Waterford V.T.O.S. Centre held a fashion event that featured their Spring / Summer 2016 collection at St. Patrick’s Gateway Centre, Patrick Street, Waterford, on the 6th of April. St. Patrick’s Church is a 300 year old historical building that has been converted into a multipurpose community centre.
This is the sixth year that the Fashion students have showcased their work. It has been completed over a two year period and is organised by the students themselves.
The theme of this year’s Fashion Show was “Illusion”, with the students drawing inspiration from a variety of sources; including nature, foreign cultures, art and historical eras. Each student designed, sewed and accessorised their collections with their inspiration in mind. It reflects student’s vision and showcases their skills.
It was a wonderful opportunity for family, friends and the general public to view student’s vision and completed work.
These students are the second year graduates of the Fashion Design and Accessories course at the Waterford V.T.O.S. Centre. It is a Level 5 course accredited by the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (formerly FETAC). During the last two years, students had the opportunity to develop their design skills in a variety of subjects such as batik, combined materials, ceramics, drawing, pattern drafting and garment construction.
The Waterford VTOS Centre has been offering courses to adults under the Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme (V.T.O.S.) since 1994.
