Over the past few weeks, Enniscorthy Vocational College students were given the opportunity to visit Pettitt’s Supervalu, Enniscorthy. They were greeted by the owner Cormac Pettit, who stressed the importance of hard work and enthusiasm in the work place. They were then given a tour of the different sections of the store and learned how organisation and co-ordination is crucial to the smooth running of any business.
Pettitt’s’ HR manager, Anne Kane then visited to the school and undertook a CV workshop with our students in preparation for their mock interview.
5th year students from Enniscorthy Vocational College welcomed the school’s Business Partnership Co-ordinator, Louise Casey, Pettitt’s HR Manager, Anne Kane and Pettitt’s General Manager, Rosaleen Casey to the school and made a presentation to them to show their gratitude for being given the opportunity to participate in such an invaluable learning experience.
Over the past few weeks, students have been immersed in the programme, which has proven hugely beneficial, both in relation to their studies but also raising awareness of the business world, which awaits them once they leave school.
Finally, the programme concluded with students making a presentation, outlining everything they have gained from the experience. All of our students have stressed how useful they found the programme “I found it very useful and loved working with the staff of Pettitt’s. I learned many valuable skills and how to do prepare for an interview, which will help me in the future. It was very helpful and interesting and showed what every day working life is like”
