Enniscorthy Vocational College
Our Town, through our eyes – Art Project was officially launched on Friday night 5th May.
Last Friday night 5th May, Dr. Iain Wickham, Principal of EVC, officially launched their Leaving Certificate Applied Art Exhibition “Our Town, through our eyes”. The unveiling of this project took place at the Presentation Centre, Enniscorthy with staff, students and their parents in attendance.
The Leaving Cert Applied course involves a Visual Art module, the emphasis is on using Art as a reflection or tool to research and explore. Our students in Enniscorthy Vocational College began a task that involved looking into their local area, they had a brief to find visual representations of three positives and three negatives about the area. Teacher, Natalie Doyle set them the challenge to take inspiration from Artist Michael Craig Martin, looking at his clean lines and unique use of colour, transforming mundane objects. Their enthusiasm, discussions and research changed the course of this project and it became bigger and deserved a more prominent stage.
The students needed an exhibition, to show their opinions and important views. They contacted the local Presentation Centre, Enniscorthy, who were most co-operative and have been working with them over the past number of weeks to ensure that all plans were in place for the exhibition, which will continue until Friday 12th May. All lovers of Art are encouraged to drop in to the centre, well worth a visit!!
